FRANCISTOWN: Unless the unexpected happens, the contest for the chairmanship of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is going to be a tight affair. The final countdown starts today when the party's 36th elective congress commences in Maun.

The aspirants, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi and Guma Moyo have been involved in a generally quiet but bare-knuckled fight to succeed veteran, Daniel Kwelagobe, whose successful defence of the seat in 2009 was equally acrimonious.
