FRANCISTOWN: President Ian Khama has reportedly declined to meet two senior ruling party officials who wanted to pay him a courtesy call.

It is said that BDP chairman, Daniel Kwelagobe and secretary general, Gomolemo Motswaledi, who led the humiliation of Khama's allies during the party elections on Monday were snubbed on Tuesday when they tried to pay the President a visit. The duo wanted to present their proposed list of the five additional members to be appointed to the Central Committee by the President. That was before Khama quickly made his appointments yesterday without considering the proposal from Kwelagobe and Motswaledi.

Khama appointed Vice-President Mompati Merafhe, Education Minister Jacob Nkate, former BDP Women's Wing chairperson, Tebelelo Seretse, lawyer Isaac Seloko and councillor Malebogo Kruger to be ordinary members of the BDP Central Committee.
