FRANCISTOWN: President Ian Khama has reportedly lashed out at the Botswana Democratic Partys (BDP) Francistown regional chairman, Botho Ntirang and his committee for disrupting a meeting of the partys superior structure.

Insiders say after he was briefed about the matter at a BDP special Central Committee meeting in Gaborone on Monday, Khama lambasted the regional committee for arrogating itself powers it did not have by cancelling a BDP National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) sanctioned meeting last Saturday.

The meeting, which was held at the Francistown regional office in Area-A, was called off as some NYEC leaders claimed ignorance of it. An insider who attended the weekend meeting and spoke to Mmegi on condition of anonymity indicated that Khama stressed that the NYEC chairperson represents NYEC and should be accorded the respect that his position deserves everywhere he is.
