KDC cllrs ditch council business and go on safari

Kweneng District councillors have embarked on a P400,000 two-week trip claiming that they have no business to transact.
The council took a decision to cancel a scheduled two-week full council meeting and replaced it with a trip to Selebi-Phikwe, Francistown, Sua Town, Maun, Kasane and Zambia. Mmegi investigations indicate that in Zambia, the councillors will tour the world famous Victoria Falls, another internationally acclaimed tourist destination, Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park in Kasane while they will tour the BCL copper-nickel mine and some agricultural projects in Francistown.
Council chairman Motlhophi Leo told Mmegi that the decision to ditch council business, which was supposed to start this week, was borne out of a realisation that "it is highly important that we travel to these places to benchmark and see what we can learn and apply in our district".
