Justice delayed for murdered daughter

*Mother not aware of bail out for the accused

The mother of the late Kemo Othomile who was a nurse at Maun General Clinic, says she is yet to hear from the Maun Police about the progress being made in her daughter's murder case and the  trial of  Letlhogonolo Mothomiwa who is accused of stabbing the deceased with a sharp instrument that led to her death.Speaking with Mmegi, Kebafetotse Othomile said since her daughter was murdered, she hasn't  been given an update on the case or trial preparations.

Mothomiwa, the deceased's boyfriend and collegue, has been accused of murdering Kemo Othomile. The grieving mother expressed her disappointment at the conduct of one Inspector Gumede, who she says never bothered to update her until the time her oldest daughter Neo who lives in Francistown, called the police earlier this month to enquire about developments on the matter. "I heard from Neo that Inspector Gumede told her that the suspect is out on bail. He also told her that we (parents) would be told when the trial dates are set. I'm struggling to believe that since my daughter was buried on March 13th this year, I haven't heard from any police officer or prosecutor. I don't even know if the trial will go forward or not. These police are very disappointing," Kebafetotse said. She further told Mmegi that she has not seen the statement made by the accused. Maun Station Commander, Kenny Badumetse said a docket for murder against Mothoiwa who originates from Molepolole was opened. However, he could not deny or confirm that the accused is out on bail since the matter has now been handed over to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
