FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) leaders in Shashe West have been touring the constituency to declare they have severed links with former members who resigned to contest as independents.

Constituency vice chairperson, Isaac Maganu disclosed to Mmegi that they have been holding meetings with the people in the past two weeks to announce the ‘divorce’. The first meeting was held in Nshakazhogwe followed by another in Matsitama last weekend. Maganu said more meetings would be held in other villages.

The former chairperson in the former Tonota North constituency - now Shashe West - said that some of the independents are asking for votes in the BDP name.
