Jamataka, Oh! Jamakata

JAMATAKA: My 20km trip from Francistown to Jamataka on Monday is by a 71 seater Volvo B7 bus owned by the Slums Transport Company. The bus is going to Rakops, a village about 100kms west of Orapa.

The bus rank is usually a beehive of activity with vendors selling water, drinks, sweets; phone-covers, wallets and other items they wish could be of interest to passengers.

Having heard the rumour that the long distance buses on this road do not carry people to the nearby villages like Jamataka, I gingerly approach one of the conductors, a burly built and stern looking lady and asked her if the bus will stop at my destination, hoping to be turned down.
