Increased road accidents worrisome

The rising number of road accidents in Botswana remains the country’s biggest challenge with drivers' attitudes cited as the major cause.

The concern was expressed by Broadhurst Police Station commander superintendent Obusitswe Lokae after recording an accident, which occurred at the Mmashia junction on Friday morning.

Lokae said the accident occurred at around 7.30am at the Mmamashia traffic lights after a BMW car collided with a Volkswagen Caravelle combi. “We suspect that one of the drivers failed to obey the traffic lights resulting in the crash. The BMW that was driven by a 33-year-old man had a 10-year-old passenger, a baby girl who sustained a fractured left leg.
