Illegal immigrants inundate Matsiloje-police boss Barati Mathambo

FRANCISTOWN: Matsiloje Police Station Commander, Superintendent Obert Manji said that he is worried by the high rate of illegal Zimbabwean immigrants who are coming into Botswana.

Manji said that in the first quarter of the year, which is from January to March 8, they have recorded a total of 192 illegal immigrants made up of 126 men and 56 women. He continued to say that the numbers are growing on a daily basis and others are hard to trace because they escape before the police are able to reach the areas where they would have been spotted.

“This is a great concern in my policing area because they come here in large numbers and when they are here they are capable of anything,” said Manji.Furthermore he said that when the illegal immigrants come to Botswana some resort to committing crimes especially in the cities.
