An attempt by Clement Molefe to be freed pending the resolution of a case in which 11 men are accused of swindling Central Medical Stores (CMS) of about P20 million has hit a snag.

This comes after High Court Judge Isaac Lesetedi denied Molefe bail following an application by Molefe's lawyer Dick Bayford in December last year.

Molefe, Jabulani Johnson, Norman Maja, Aaron Babolele, Lebogang Kaisara, David Tumagole, Patrick Cole, Otsile Mosarwe, Jenamo Nfana, Bushi Nthibo and Abraham Marumo collectively face four counts of obtaining by false pretence.   While others facing the same charges were released on bail last year, Molefe and Sierra Leone national, Patrick Cole, were denied bail twice by Village Chief Magistrate Lot Moroka, who said the two remained a flight risk and could flee the country if granted bail.  Molefe and Cole have been in police custody since their arrest in May last year.
