Govt spends a hefty P2million per workshop on poverty eradication

Government has spent a total of P2million per workshop on poverty eradication undertakings.

When responding to a question in Parliament, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgweetsi Masisi said five more workshops will be held after the Chanoga Poverty Eradication Pitso, which will be held in a few weeks time.Masisi further revealed that government is anticipated to spend a further total P10 million on the five poverty eradication workshops.

Member of Parliament for Francistown South Winter Mmolotsi had asked the minister the number of Poverty Eradication Projects that are to be handed over at Chanoga Poverty Eradication Pitso; the anticipated cost of the preparations for the event and the anticipated number of officers who will attend the event and the areas in which they are based.Masisi told the House that these workshops are intended to equip and empower beneficiaries with basic skills and not to hand over projects. He added that following the workshops; the beneficiaries are enrolled in more technical programmes at various districts to ensure that they have sufficient skills to manage their enterprises.
