Gender empowerment hinges on social system overhaul � Judge

An overhaul of various social systems is needed to ensure that they deliver for women and girls, Industrial Court Judge, Tapiwa Marumo, has said.

Speaking at last week’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights workshop, Marumo said there is need to improve systems to do with law and justice, education, politics, labour and finance for women and girls.

“This also entails rethinking macroeconomic and social protection policies for women throughout the life cycle to take into account their reproductive role and the unequal and unpaid care burden disproportionately borne by women and girls,” she said.
