F/town targeted for legal year

FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown High Court will next year host the legal year opening session in the department of Administration of Justice's endeavours to take the High Court to the people.

The event's publicity secretary, Letsweletse Mophalane said yesterday that preparations for the event to be held next year February have started. Although the exact date for the legal year is yet to be identified, it is certain that it will be held in Francistown in 2009.

It will not be the first time the event is held here though, as it was first held in 2002 and combined with the official opening of the Francistown High Court by the former President, Festus Mogae. A hall in the court was named after one of Botswana's finest legal brains, the late Moleleki Mokama.
