FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City councillors have approved the recurrent budget proposal for the period 2008/2009.

Presenting the proposed budget, the Finance and General Purpose chairperson, Kgalajwe Kgalejwe, submitted that in the past, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning gave local authorities ceiling figures and they were required to scale their expenditure strictly within the figures allocated to them.

"This time around, local authorities have been requested to submit budget proposals for the period 2008/2009 by July 30 in order to allow the Ministry of Local Government to review these budgets before it responds to ceiling proposals from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning," said the excited Kgalejwe.
