Francistown-Ramokgwebana road ready in august

FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown-Ramokgwebana road will be completed some time in August. Director of Roads Kabo Kote said that they have extended the deadline for the contractor Sinohydro Corporation Limited because of some unforeseen circumstances.

"We gave them an extension because of some factors like abnormal rainfall, relocation of services and so on," he said.  Initially the completion date was last September and then it was to be completed by December 31 but now the new completion date has been set for August 2011.

Kote said that some of the things that were overlooked also set the project back. "The water from Shashe River was too close to the road and the only other option was to relocate the pipe, which is very big," he said.  The roads boss further stated that also when the contractors got to the roundabout near Francistown Police Station they found black cotton soil.
