Four aspire to chair BDP youth

Three candidates have shown interest to challenge the Botswana Democratic Party National Youth Executive (BDPNYEC) chairperson, Andy Boatile, in the forthcoming elective congress.

The BDPNYEC will hold its congress in Masunga on May 29. The three are Twoboy Matseka, Thabo Autlwetse, and Thato Baruti. Baruti is the incumbent BDPNYEC treasurer. Boatile has confirmed that he will defend his position come the May elections. He said the reason why he wants to defend his post is because he has not yet finished his mission. He would want to see most youth candidates winning council seats across the country.

“I had encouraged some of the youth to contest for council seats and they have since won primary elections. It is NYEC’s responsibility to help them achieve that. As the chairperson I believe I can help them together with my committee as we did previously,” he said. He said they had agreed in their previous meeting that they held in January this year that their committee members are free to campaign or join any lobby list. Boatile said for now they are cooperating well despite being in different lobby lists.
