Floor crossing does not entail surrendering seat - Boko

Botswana National Front (BNF) president Duma Boko has said it is unnecessary for an MP to surrender his seat after defecting from his party.

Boko was speaking at a seminar on democracy last weekend in Gaborone where he said that even the parliamentary standing orders addresses floor crossing, embraces it and has a provision for it.

"That when any member crosses, he will inform the speaker of the party he has defected to and the speaker will make an announcement in parliament.
