He also said that during a recent Kgotla meeting they engaged the Social and Community Development department committee and ward members to help monitor the issue. Dikgang further said that last month Vice-President Ponatshego Kedikilwe handed over some of the houses they built in partnership with other councillors in the village, and the area Member of Parliament Ramadeluka Seretse.
Dikgang noted that Basarwa were allocated plots although some of them do not have national identity cards. He said through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, they have partnered with the District Commissioner Chaboka Lesetedi to give the children born to Basarwa parents birth certificates and identity cards. The government has also issued a waiver for Basarwa on the Omang requirements, and have so far successfully issued national identity cards in Sehunou, Malatswai and Khwee.
