Female Pioneer Falls In Love With The Army

One of Botswana's first female soldiers, Second Lieutenant Atamelang Koboyankwe says she would not swap her army uniform for anything else.

The 25-year-old officer has every reason to be proud of her new job because she has become part of history. She joined the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) in 2007 as part of the first female recruits since the army was formed in 1977.

Koboyankwe who had studied computer engineering, is enjoying every moment of her job as a soldier.  She has become acquainted with the military world where officers are addressed by their ranks.  At work she is known as Second Lieutenant Koboyankwe. She joined the army after completing her degree course.
