FCC still fighting floods

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City Council (FCC) is still fighting floods through various measures to protect vulnerable areas of the city.

Late last year City mayor Shadrack Nyeku said that the council had put appropriate measures in place to try and alleviate the problems of storms.

The council has resorted to digging trenches as one of the measures in flood prone areas.  Nyeku said that the measures they had put in place have worked.  "It has worked. The area that I had initially talked about around Metsef used to flood every year during the rainy season but this year it did not because of the initiative we took," he said.
