FCC seeks graveyard from NEDC

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City Council (FCC) has turned to the North East District Council (NEDC) for help after running out of land for a cemetery.

FCC chairman of the finance committee, Raoboy Mpuang has said that from the current budget, there is no money set aside for graveyards and the only option is to ask NEDC for land. "We have no money that we have set aside, so we are just waiting for a response from the North East," he said.

Francistown mayor, James Kgalajwe explained that the problem arose after land set aside for a cemetery at Gerald Estates proved unsuitable."We have asked for land from the North East council because we have land at Gerald Estates for burial but it has proven very difficult to use because of an underlying rock formation," he said.
