Farmer fined P2K for illegal slaughter amidst FMD restrictions

A 50-year-old man has been fined P2,000 after he was caught illegally slaughtering a cow at his farm in Dithakana Lands, on the outskirts of Kumakwane, on Saturday.

Mogoditshane Police Station acting commander, Assistant Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi, said police received a tip-off and immediately rushed to the scene, where they found the farmer in the act of slaughtering the animal.

He said officers were accompanied by veterinary officials, who confiscated the cow carcass. The suspect was subsequently charged and fined for failing to comply with animal health regulations.
