FRANCISATOWN: Tatitown Customary Court President Margaret Mosojane revealed that fighting over the custody of kids between parents is a huge concern in her court.

In an interview with The Monitor, about cases that were of greatest concern to her court, Mosojane fingered family issues, especially of parents fighting over the custody of their children. She did not bring out written down statistics to back up her claims, but she said it was because they employed mostly mediation efforts in which no records are left.

However, she said they dealt with three to five cases on a daily basis. She added that in many of the cases, it was usually co-habitting couples whose relationships had gone sour, who would subsequently fight over who remained with the children.Mosojane, who upon retirement had to come back on a contract basis, said people bear children together when they are not married and when things start going haywire and they go their separate ways, children are caught in the middle.
