Education Road Map Laid Out

President Ian Khama has said that appropriate education and skills training will remain a top priority of government during the National Development Party (NDP) 10.

In his State of the Nation Address on Friday, Khama said that among the plan's key goals is provision of accessible and quality education. He said to achieve this, the government has set a target of 100 percent primary and junior secondary school enrolment. He said the government intends to maximise transition from junior to senior secondary school to vocational and tertiary education.

Khama stated that all education institutions must commit to being centres of excellence. Students must be constantly nurtured and never abused. The students must conduct themselves in accordance with Setswana values of mutual respect. Khama urged all educational professionals to take personal pride in their work.
