Education Hub seeks to turn Selebi-Phikwe into centre of excellence

He said Selebi-Phikwe schools have a tradition of good performance and the idea is to turn the area into a centre of excellence. He was speaking during an acknowledgement and appreciation lunch organised for Makhubu and Meepong Junior Secondary Schools for their good performance during the 2012 Junior Certificate Examinations.
Meepong got eight As, 58 Bs, 57 Cs, 38 Ds, 3 Es while Makhubu got one merit, 23 As, 93 Bs and 72Cs. Mokgosi told the two schools not to be complacent and the competition that exists between them is welcome.He encouraged them not to hide information from each other. He said discussions are ongoing to introduce awards for those who excel in Form Three and Standard Seven examinations. He pointed out that since the government is on course to diversify the economy of the region, education could play an important role in the process. Mokgosi urged the management of the region to come up with a vision aimed at sustaining the performance of the schools.
