FRANCISTOWN: Two Dukwi refugees were expected to appear before the Francistown Chief Magistrate, Chris Gabanagae yesterday charged with possession of elephant tusks.

The two refugees, Angolan Herculano Andrean, 47 and Charles Watmon of Uganda,40, were found in possession of the trophies last Tuesday in Francistown.

However, one of them, Watmon escaped from police custody leaving only Andrean to appear for mention yesterday. Watmon has however since been arrested and after Andrean had been called to the dock, state prosecutor, David Pitlagano requested that the charge sheet be amended to include the Ugandan, leading to the postponement of the case to yesterday.
