Disabled Official Makes Plea On HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS policy makers have been urged to cater for people with disabilities. The call was made by the chairman of the Botswana Society of People with Disabilities (BSPD), Isaacs Nkganetsang, at Mmakgodumo Motel in Kanye last Thursday.

Nkganetsang said it is regrettable that people with disabilities are forgotten when HIV/AIDS policies and programmes are formulated. "Somehow when people come up with strategies for fighting AIDS, we are not taken on board. He said that more attention should be focused on people with disabilities because they are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. He noted that people with different disabilities needed various programmes to cater for their special needs.
