Gaborone Central MP, Dumelang Saleshando has said the P200 million allocated to the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) is meant to finance the ruling party's campaigns in this year's general elections.

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) legislator told a rally at Selemela ward that the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is going to use the money to buy votes.

"It is not that we are not aware of what is happening," Saleshando said at rally to launch the BCP's council candidate for Selemela ward, Tshepo Balatedi. He wondered where the BDP was getting money to buy campaign vehicles. He said that while the public was aware of what the money allocated to other ministries and department was going to be used for, the secrecy surrounding the intelligence arm of government raises eyebrows.
