Dikoloti calls for bold transformation in agriculture

The acting Minister of Lands and Agriculture, Dr Edwin Dikoloti, has urged Batswana to reimagine the country’s agricultural future and act decisively to transform the sector into one that is productive, sustainable, and inclusive.

Speaking during the World Food Day commemoration that was held at Maunatlala recently, Dikoloti said the time has come for Botswana to adopt innovative and climate-smart agricultural practices that boost productivity whilst protecting the environment.

“Our farmers must have access to improved seeds, modern technologies, efficient water management, and climate-smart practices. Transforming agriculture requires strategies rooted in innovation, collaboration, and resilience,” he said.

We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
