Daisy Loo wins P21 million case

The expensive yo-yo marathon case between Daisy Loo and Gaborone City Council (GCC) came to an end yesterday with the cleaning company poised to smile all the way to the bank. The Court of Appeal in Lobatse ordered the GCC to pay the company P21,434,434.46 together with interest at the rate of 10 percent per annum from June 24 to October 10, 2005.

 

GCC is to pay all the interest that have accrued on the cheque it issued to Daisy Loo before it was confiscated and deposited at an interest bearing an account by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC).
Court of Appeal president Justice  Tebutt, sitting with  Justice Zietsman and Michael Ramodibedi completely turned tables on the council which was ordered to pay costs of the litigation.
