Kazungula police station commander, Frankel Mohutsiwa said that the crocodile left no remains at the scene of the incident. "There was nothing. He was gone," he said. The deceased and his friends were reportedly seated at the Chobe riverbank entertaining themselves when disaster struck.

Another friend who witnessed the horrific incident, Moses Masule, told Mmegi that they were sitting by the river entertaining themselves when his friend met his death. "We were sitting by the river drinking and he kept jumping into the river. He jumped in twice and came out and the third time he did not come out," he said.
