SELEBI-PHIKWE: Councillors have lamented the lack of television coverage in Selebi-Phikwe, arguing that it isolates the mining town from potential investors.

Councillors told the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Baledzi Gaolathe, that they are surprised that the Department of Broadcasting Services has not lived up to its promise of having a fully-fledged bureau in Selebi-Phikwe.

During an address to the council last year, former director Bapasi Mphusu promised councillors that the department would deploy a permanent television crew in the mining town.
Specially nominated councillor Benjamin Bagayi said it was unfortunate that Btv "does not cover Selebi-Phikwe full council sessions". "I do not remember a single day BTV covering a Selebi-Phikwe full council meeting. We are discussing serious issues here. How will we manage to market Selebi-Phikwe if we are not covered?" Bagayi wondered.
