Construction workers allege maltreatment

FRANCISTOWN: Workers employed by Tuwana Construction, which is tasked with the construction of the Francistown Stadium have complained of maltreatment at the hands of their employers.

The workers revealed this during a tour of the stadium on Monday by the Parliamentary Labour Relations Committee delegation consisting of Boteti North legislator, Slumber Tsogwane, MP for Tswapong North, Prince Maele, MP for Lobatse, Nehemiah Modubule, Nata/Gweta MP, Rayner Makosha and MP for Gaborone Central, Dumelang Saleshando.

They said their employers, who are Chinese, often favour Zimbabweans, at the expense of Batswana. Biki Molambo, who is employed as a bricklayer said some Batswana employees have been expelled and their positions filled by Zimbabweans.
