College students hold principal hostage

Students at the Road Training College (RTC) in Gaborone yesterday held their principal hostage in their dining hall, demanding answers to their grievances.

The students called the principal to address them at 8am. When he failed to report to the dining hall, the SRC president went to call him and the students refused to let him go without giving them concrete answers.

The meeting, which started at 10am took more than five hours with the students even opting to skip their lunch hour so the principal could give them satisfactory explanations.
