Civic leaders have called on the Gaborone City Council (GCC) to employ a supervisor to manage market stalls rented out to hawkers.

The call by a number of councillors came after the mayor Kagiso Thutlwe briefed the full council meeting on Monday that there are cases of illegal occupancy and non-payment of rentals.

Commenting on the mayor’s speech yesterday, Sebele ward councillor Lesego Mabego noted that some tenants are no longer occupying the stalls and their whereabouts are unknown.
