Cllr, WDC at loggerheads

FRANCISTOWN: A war of words has erupted between Somerset Extension Ward Development Committee (WDC) and area councillor Philip Butale over allegations of hiring of 'outsiders' in the ongoing drought relief programme.

Vice chairperson for WDC Douglas Sedimo told Mmegi that they (Extension residents) are worried about the number of outsiders being employed on the programme. "We do know about 20 of these people because they are not Extension residents, otherwise we would know them. It is not hard to tell that these people do not reside in this ward," he said.

Sedimo further said that they were also surprised that the councillor is the one who is making the announcements.
