Chimidza takes on Debswana today

Today the Francistown Industrial Court decides whether mineworkers union official Chimidzani Chimidza's case of condonation can continue.

It is a test case on whether a union leader can be singled out from the collective and be victimised on his own. It is a case of whether union bashing is allowed or not under the justice system of Botswana.

A former chairman of the Mineworkers union and employee of Debswana, Chimidza was fired soon after the 2004 Jwaneng and Orapa mines strike that also cost another 461 striking workers their jobs.
