Centre closure should serve as a lesson to NGOs

It is incidents like the closure of Dula Sentle in Otse that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) should look at government as a partner, a Department of Social Service (DSS) official says.

Koreen Reece, the technical advisor (NGO Child Care Coordination), said NGOs have to be more aware of their responsibility and avoid the pitfall of doing business haphazardly.
"We have standards and procedures," she said.

Dula Sentle, a centre catering for orphans whose initial mission was to conserve natural resources, was closed last year because of irregularities.
