The sign language was premiered on Monday in the 9pm news bulletin. Principal Public Relations Officer in the Department of Broadcasting Services Simon Seisa confirmed that sign language is going to be a permanent feature in both Setswana and English news bulletins.

He said they had consulted professionals to see that the standard sign language was universally recognised. Seisa said from the beginning they brought on board those with hearing impairment to see whether the sign language would produce the desired impact. He said that they were open to developing indigenous sign language and would improve in the future.
