Botswana praised for its HIV/AIDS treatment policy

VICTORIA FALLS - A meeting of SADC Ministers of Health opened here on Wednesday with Botswana earning praise for its efforts in providing anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment to its citizens who are infected by HIV.

Giving an overview of the region's progress and achievements in the fight against HIV and AIDS, Dr Antonica Hembe, the Sadc head of HIV and Aids secretariat said while some governments in the region are facing problems availing treatment to their nationals suffering from HIV and AIDS, Botswana has almost universal access to medication. 

Dr Hembe was speaking during the opening session of the meeting, being attended by Ministers of Health or their representatives from southern Africa.
