Botswana In Trans-Frontier Conservation Initiative

Next August Botswana will sign a treaty to formalise the establishment of the Trans-frontier Conservation Area (TFCA) in Namibia.

Botswana will be joining the four states of Namibia, Zambia, Angola and Zimbabwe to formalise the establishment of the TFCA, whose objectives include fostering trans-national collaboration and cooperation among the states in implementing ecosystems and cultural resource management through the governments concerned and stakeholders.

In an interview with Monitor, Rapelang Mojaphoko, Coordinator of Research and Development in the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism said that recently, the TFCA membership's ministers of environment including Kitso Mokaila attended the Kavango Zambezi Trans-frontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) Ministers Committee Meeting on November 5, in Katima Mulilo, Namibia. She said the meeting was attended by the Ministers of Environment for all the five participating countries, namely: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
