BOPRITA leaders face stand off with members

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU) current leadership will next week get a test of its character when it battles to prevent its members from marking the Junior Certificate (JC) scripts.

Insiders say that teachers are bent on defying the union leadership by marking the JC and Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) scripts.
In fact, teachers, majority of which are staunch members of BOSETU honoured the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) invitation to conduct script selection and setting of standardisation for JC examinations last week and this week.

The process of standardisation for the BGCSE examination scripts commenced this week as well."I don't think it will really work that the teachers will boycott marking of the students' papers as it was resolved at the August Maun BOSETU congress. We feel we just have to work and contribute to the development of this country," said a staunch BOSETU member in Francistown who preferred anonymity.
