Bontshetse to quit politics after BNF suit

The Botswana National Front’s recalled and suspended one-time Tonota parliamentary hopeful, Maokaneng Bontshetse, says he will quit active politics once his lawsuit against the party is finalised. Bontshetse is suing the BNF after the party recalled him for allegedly talking to the media inappropriately.

After being recalled recently, Bontshetse was suspended on Monday, with the party saying the former candidate continued to speak to the media, which is reportedly in violation of the party’s processes.

Yesterday, Bontshetse told Mmegi that his attorney was brushing up the paperwork to challenge the BNF’s recall.
