The Botswana Network on Ethics Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) has won the 2008 HIV/AIDS and Human Rights. The honour was bestowed on BONELA in Johannesburg, South Africa last week by ARASA - AIDS Rights Alliance for Southern Africa.

The award is presented annually in recognition of excellence in the fight against HIV/AIDS and TB and promoting a human rights based response to the two health problems in southern Africa.

BONELA treatment and literacy coordinator Cindy Kelemi said the criteria used to select the award winners are impact and the success in promoting human response to HIV/AIDS and TB. ARASA is a regional partnership of NGOs established in 2002 to promote a human rights approach to HIV/AIDS and TB in southern Africa through capacity building and advocacy.
