BOMU protests unconstitutional practices at COSBOTS AGM

Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) lodged a complaint yesterday with the Registrar of Societies regarding unconstitutional practices, which they say occurred at the just ended COSBOTS annual general meeting. BOMU president, Alfredo Mosimanegape said what was supposed to be the inaugural Copyright Society of Botswana (COSBOTS) AGM turned out to be an illegal gathering that was non-compliant with the COSBOTS Constitution or the Companies Act.
He said the current board was restored to power through unfair and indistinct electoral means. He further said since the gathering was said to be a non-electoral AGM, his efforts to push a motion to decide when the electoral meeting should be were reduced to nothing by the executive members. "The board members were saying that the current board should continue sitting and no election should be held.
