SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana National Front (BNF) will not contest the Makaleng ward by-election in the North East, but has opted to throw its weight behind a Botswana People's Party (BPP) candidate.

BNF publicity secretary, Moeti Mohwasa said his party is committed to opposition cooperation, hence their decision not to field a rival candidate.

The BPP contested the last election in Makaleng and lost with a margin of less than 100. The late Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate, Albert Modise, won the seat. Mohwasa said their support for the BPP would also entail vigorous campaigns to ensure that the opposition wins the ward.
