BMWU engages ministers over Galane Gold retrenchments

FRANCISTOWN: The long standing debacle between Galane Gold mine employees and their management over looming retrenchments is far from over, it has emerged.

Following the mine management's decision to proceed with retrenchments last week, the miner workers' representative Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) have decided to seek an urgent meeting with the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Kitso Mokaila in a bid to stop the mine from going on with retrenchments.

The letter dated March 11th, was also copied to the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu.BMWU, through a letter signed by the union's general secretary, Bob Malele have requested that a meeting between them and the two ministers be held on May 18th at Mokaila's office.
