BMD braces for inaugural congress

The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) will hold its inaugural national congress next year March, according to interim chairman, Gomolemo Motswaledi.

Addressing a press conference in Gaborone yesterday, Motswaledi said they are building up structures of the party, both at regional and national level, adding that so far they have covered "a lot of ground".  He said they expect to have finished setting up structures in all the regions by November this year.  At the BMD convention held in May, the party decided that the congress be held either in November this year or March next year.

Motswaledi said that they have engaged the BMD interim executive committee leadership and other party members to take charge of regions, with a view to preparing the structures for the congress.  Each region is expected to elect delegates to the congress. These delegates will also vote during the election of the party leadership in March.
