Bloody weekend as 2 die in suspected passion killings

Letlhakane village was treated to a bloody weekend after two young men killed their lovers leaving residents shocked. The two incidents happened separately Friday and Saturday nights.

In the first incident a 23-year-old man of Letsibogo ward is alleged to have killed his 21-year-old lover of Kgokonyane cattle post. The suspect cut his girlfriend's neck with a sharp instrument after an argument.

Station commander Superintendent Loeto Ramabokwa said they found an axe at the scene of the incident. The suspect also injured the deceased's mother as she tried to rescue her daughter. Ramabokwa said the suspect is likely to be charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm. In the other incident a 30-year old man of Mosu village allegedly killed his 29-year-old ex lover of Tawana ward. A hammer and a face brick were found at the murder scene leading to suspicion that these were the weapons used in the crime. Ramabokwa said the deceased's face was badly injured. The two suspects who are in police custody are expected to appear before Letlhakane Magistrate Court. Meanwhile investigations continue. The two incidents bring to four the number of 'passion' killings that have occurred in the village this year.
