BFTU offers exams mediation, BOSETU skeptical

The executive secretary of the Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU) says that the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) is not capable of mediating on the invigilation issue between the teachers and the Botswana Examination Council (BEC).

Justin Hunyepa was responding to the proposal put forward by the BFTU offering its services to mediate in the current impasse if the Ministry of Education, Skills and Development, BEC and the Teacher Unions - BOSETU and Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) - agree.

Hunyepa says they are not members of the BFTU and therefore their relationship has been severed so much that they cannot sit and discuss anything.  He said the BFTU was speaking with forked tongues after putting forward the proposal, and according to him on the same day released a statement condemning the boycott.
